چکیده

Tricuspid atresia is one of the less common forms of congenital heart disease. The results of palliative surgery in 72 children are presented. Cardiac catheterization and angiocardiography are essential for precise definition of the anomaly. There is a 20% incidence of obstruction at atrial septal level. Closed atrial septostomy is of value in such cases in infancy. In most there is a reduced pulmonary blood flow. This may be increased by anastomosis of either the superior

Surgical management of competing pulmonary blood flow affects survival before Fontan/Kreutzer completion in patients with tricuspid atresia type I.

OBJECTIVES To determine the association between surgical management of pulmonary blood flow (PBF) at initial and staged procedures with survival to Fontan/Kreutzer operation (Fontan) in patients with tricuspid atresia. METHODS Infants aged <3 months with tricuspid atresia type I (n = 303) were enrolled from 34 institutions (1999-2013). Among those who underwent surgical intervention (n = 302)...

Initial syncope associated with alternating attacks of supraventricular tachycardia and atrioventricular block long after surgical correction of tricuspid atresia.

The Fontan procedure has become a generic term to define a surgical procedure that orients the systemic venous return directly to the pulmonary arteries, and has been used as a palliative operation for pulmonary atresia, tricuspid atresia, double inlet ventricle and complex single ventricle. The earliest type of Fontan procedure was a simple atriopulmonary anastomosis between the right atrium a...

Left atrioventricular valve atresia: clinical management.

Forty cases of left atrioventricular valve (LAV) atresia without aortic stenosis or atresia were reviewed. Thirty-one had mitral atresia and nine had left tricuspid atresia. Eleven had associated pulmonary outflow tract obstruction. Twenty-two (55%) underwent cardiac catheterization and 12 had more than one study. Left atrial pressure was normal in seven infants younger than 2 weeks of age. Twe...

Surgical repair of tricuspid atresia.

Surgical repair of tricuspid atresia has been carried out in three patients; two of these operations have been successful. A new surgical procedure has been used which transmits the whole vena caval blood to the lungs, while only oxygenated blood returns to the left heart. The right atrium is, in this way, 'ventriclized', to direct the inferior vena caval blood to the left lung, the right pulmo...
